Tribute to 2 photographers and Godflesh
I'm the road now.
While I'm at it I'm going to accomplish a goal I've had for several years. In the late 80's two photographers, Sam Kittner and Joel Sartore working for National Geographic that set out to show the world what is known as
Cancer Alley. Many of the photos they created were both disturbing and horrifying. However, both photographers ended up at a cemetery to photograph the same marble crucifixion at the Holy Rosary Cemetery on the site of Occidental Chemical and Union Carbide plants at different times.
Sam Kittners photo was taken at sundown on a clear day. While
Joel Sartores photograph was taken on a very gloomy cloudy morning. Probably as the sun was just rising. If you look at the crucifixion and the surrounding graves you'll see that they are lit up well.
Sam Kittner
Joel Sartore
Both images were used on 2 albums by
Godflesh. The album
Songs of Love and Hate featured the photo by
Joel Sartore while the album
Love and Hate in Dub featured the photo by
Sam Kittner but backwards on the album cover.
Interesting eh?
I can't wait to see what I come up with.
