Money Money Money by z-monster Money Money Money by z-monster
What you see here is $200,000 USD. It's real American money in stacks of 100 dollar bills and in sequential order. There was actually $500,000 but I could only squeeze $200,000 into my light box.

Equipment used:
Canon 30D with 28-70mm f/2.8L lens
EF 580EX II and EF 430EX in full TTL mode
Homemade light box made from cardboard and white paper

This shot was inspired by Dr Teeth - The Money Song.

Enjoy! =D

Whats the story behind this? How were you able to take this photo? And how were you able to get them to let you handle that much money??? I'm intrigued.

Ah...good question. Here in Iraq, the military is always looking to improve situations for the Iraqi people. The news is always talking about how the United States builds new schools, new roads and such. Well it takes money and the military has certified pat agents.

My job is to document such events when possible. On this day we set out to purchase new tractors and the pay agent had $500,000. We showed up early in the morning to the pay agents office and started photographing the money as he was counting. I had a makeshift lightbox in my office just down the hallway.

So bam! Instant idea. I've always wanted to take a clean shot of new money and here it is. Funny thing was that I could only fit $200,000 of the $500,000 he was counting.

Oh let me tell ya man, this cash was still wrapped in plastic. When the pay agent opened the wrapper...the room was filled with fresh ink...the smell of money! =D

Isn't it kind of dangerous to be dealing with the physical money? Wouldn't it be more secure to make a bank transaction instead? Makes me nervous as a citizen anyway.

But holy crap...I would be so tempted around that kinda money...lol imagine the camera equipment that could get you.

In this case it wasn't so bad since transactions like this happen on U.S. base. I know what you mean though as I was thinking the same way.

Oh the camera equipment it could get...oh yes indeed.
